Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureD-
The phones sank the Ravens this weekend: D.

There is reaching, and then there is Jimmy Horn Jr. at pick 243. The Ravens jumped the board by 87 and dared it to prove them wrong. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Tuten pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Pearce Jr. at No. 27. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick50 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
A straight-up fair deal on Alfred Collins at slot 50, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Fair-plus on Jonah Savaiinaea, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick54 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slid further than he should have, and the 54th pick is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick82 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo is a better player than pick 82 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91 Rnd3 Savion Williams
Savion Williams in the 91st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
A premium they did not need to pay, Dylan Fairchild a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
A tidy little value on Dorian Strong in slot 129, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick136 Rnd4 Kaimon Rucker
A reach for Kaimon Rucker in the 136th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
They did well to land Chase Lundt in Round 5, Pick 38, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick183 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
A running back of that caliber at pick 183 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick203 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
A wild overpay on Desmond Watson in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210 Rnd6 Fadil Diggs
Fadil Diggs at the 210th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyler Batty in No. 212, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jimmy Horn Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jimmy Horn Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
