Allen should have been long gone. The Ravens pounced, and earned a C+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Ravens shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Allen pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick30
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In slot 30 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
They read the board right and Xavier Worthy was the payoff at the 75th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in the 130th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick135
Rnd4
Kalen King
No edge and no loss on Kalen King in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in pick No. 165 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick228
Rnd7
Cedric Johnson
Cedric Johnson at pick No. 228 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It fills a real need, too.
Pick250
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
The board fumbled Tylan Grable all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
