FutureC
Best value of the weekend goes to the Ravens for Riley: B+. When a board-topper like Quincy Riley slides to pick No. 205, you do not overthink it, and the Ravens did not.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The veteran additions, DK Metcalf chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In No. 27 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick66
Rnd3
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at the 66th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Circle this one: Lathan Ransom at pick No. 128 is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick136
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 136, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick176
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
A running back of that caliber at the 176th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick178
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt slipping to Round 5, Pick 39 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick185
Rnd6
Ryan Fitzgerald
They barely believed it either: Ryan Fitzgerald still on the board at pick 185. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick205
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
They will replay Quincy Riley at the 205th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Somehow Jaylen Reed was still sitting there in the 213th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick 245 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
