Draft Grade — Lions
Overall

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Lions: B-. The Lions treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 130 on Elijah Roberts a full 51 spots early. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. That Riley pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson at the 28th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick60
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in Round 2, Pick 28 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick102
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They read the board right and Charles Grant was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick130
Rnd4
Elijah Roberts
They reached into another round for Elijah Roberts, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley is a better player than pick No. 196 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick228
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing R.J. Mickens in pick 228. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick244
Rnd7
Sam Brown Jr.
Sam Brown Jr. at Round 7, Pick 28 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
