Call it larceny. Jordan James sat on the board until No. 162, and the Jets did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

If Mastromanno pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

In slot 7 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

Jaxson Dart in pick No. 42 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

They did well to land Carson Schwesinger in the 73rd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 110 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
