Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jaguars kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Jaguars clearly saw something nobody else did in Jonah Monheim, taking him 31 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Getting Neal where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Will Campbell
No drama and no debate, Will Campbell went about where he belonged in the 5th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
Shavon Revel Jr. slipping to slot 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter in pick 70 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at No. 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107
Rnd4
Devin Neal
You do not let a running back like Devin Neal reach pick No. 107 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick126
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
They let Anthony Belton come to them and pounced at the 126th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
A real head-scratcher, Jonah Monheim in the 142nd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Kyle Williams graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
They jumped the gun on Jay Higgins, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick221
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey slid further than he should have, and the 221st pick is lovely value for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
