Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Sanders, and a B-, for the Jaguars.

When a board-topper like Brashard Smith slides to pick No. 184, you do not overthink it, and the Jaguars did not.

Whatever Shedeur Sanders becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The Borregales pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Spending an early pick on specialist with interior defensive lineman and safety open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In the 5th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach pick 36 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick70 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Azareye'h Thomas at pick 70 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Darien Porter
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Darien Porter in the 88th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106 Rnd4 Andres Borregales
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman and safety still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Andres Borregales, a specialist they were not short of.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at No. 125 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick143 Rnd5 James Burnip
James Burnip at the 143rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick184 Rnd6 Brashard Smith
The board fumbled Brashard Smith all the way to slot 184, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jay Higgins at Round 6, Pick 18. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Kobe Hudson
Somehow Kobe Hudson was still sitting there in pick No. 223, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
