Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Ravens got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

There is reaching, and then there is Keaten Wade at the Round 7 slot. The Ravens jumped the board by 101 and dared it to prove them wrong. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Hartford pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick3 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick No. 3 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick22 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
In the 22nd pick they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Carnell Tate
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Carnell Tate at pick 33. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick34 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
A big swing on Arvell Reese at Round 2, Pick 2, well ahead of any board in the building. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick70 Rnd3 Justice Haynes
Value said wait; Justice Haynes in No. 70 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
A premium they did not need to pay, Monroe Freeling a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick142 Rnd5 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at pick 142 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick145 Rnd5 Zane Durant
Zane Durant at slot 145 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick167 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
Nice patience on Duce Robinson, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 26. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174 Rnd5 Terrance Carter Jr.
Taking Terrance Carter Jr. in No. 174 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176 Rnd5 Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at the 176th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick251 Rnd7 Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney at pick No. 251 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keaten Wade in the Round 7 slot, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick256 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
No edge and no loss on Hykeem Williams in the 256th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
Circle this one: Malik Hartford at Round 7, Pick 40 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
