Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
The Ravens kept it disciplined and banked a B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Ethan Downs in the 185th overall pick, a good 82 spots before the room expected him. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Sanders pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In pick No. 27 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick59
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
The board had Xavier Watts higher than slot 59, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick91
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
They did well to land Ozzy Trapilo in the 91st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
They reached a country mile for Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick136
Rnd4
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in the 136th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at pick 176 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick178
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
They paid sticker price for JJ Pegues in the 178th pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185
Rnd6
Ethan Downs
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ethan Downs this early at slot 185. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick213
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
By-the-book stuff, Carson Vinson at Round 6, Pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
They let LaJohntay Wester come to them and pounced at the 245th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
