757RavensFan DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Bills: C+. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Simeon Barrow Jr. a full 46 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They banked enough surplus on Allen to cover a lot of smaller sins. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Fitzgerald is a bad player; it is that the Bills had louder needs to answer first.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Bradyn Swinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at pick No. 56, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Chris Paul Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Chris Paul Jr. in the 62nd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick109
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
A wild overpay on Luke Kandra in the 109th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132
Rnd4
Ryan Fitzgerald
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Ryan Fitzgerald in No. 132 leaves safety and quarterback for later.
Pick169
Rnd5
LeQuint Allen
The board fumbled LeQuint Allen all the way to Round 5, Pick 31, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
A tidy bit of business in slot 170, where Bhayshul Tuten graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jake Briningstool
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jake Briningstool in No. 173. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Simeon Barrow Jr.
A big swing on Simeon Barrow Jr. at the 177th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Woody Marks
They read the board right and Woody Marks was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 30. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
