The steal of the weekend belongs to the Ravens and Jackson: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Khyree Jackson tumbling to the Ravens in pick 169 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
JT Tuimoloau
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
Josh Newton
They robbed the room for Josh Newton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick95
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the 95th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Justin Rogers
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Rogers. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Value with a capital V on Cedric Gray in slot 134, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick169
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 169th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick253
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray is a better player than No. 253 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
