The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Logan Brown slide 95 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick10 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty

A slide stopped in the 10th pick, with Ashton Jeanty worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori

A safety of that caliber at pick 39 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Warren

Tyler Warren in No. 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.

Pick72 Rnd3 Darien Porter

By-the-book stuff, Darien Porter at the 72nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

Pick148 Rnd5 Jayden Higgins

Jayden Higgins at Round 5, Pick 10 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
