Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-

The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Branch: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Zachariah Branch tumbling to the Patriots in the 131st overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Payton reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Elijah Sarratt
In slot 31 they get a difference-maker at receiver, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Romello Height
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 63rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II at pick 95 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick125 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in pick No. 125 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Zachariah Branch in Round 4, Pick 31, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd5 Treydan Stukes
Value with a capital V on Treydan Stukes in the 169th overall pick, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick189 Rnd6 Patrick Payton
They left a pile of value on the table to take Patrick Payton this early at the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Foster at No. 200, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick207 Rnd6 Isaiah Jatta
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Jatta in slot 207, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick210 Rnd6 Kalil Alexander
They reached into another round for Kalil Alexander, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick247 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris at No. 247 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
