A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Steelers spent slot 237 on Jager Burton, a name most had 107 spots down the list. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Scott. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In pick No. 21 they get a potential shutdown corner, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Denzel Boston
They will replay Denzel Boston at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76 Rnd3 Gennings Dunker
Taking Gennings Dunker in pick 76 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick85 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
You do not let a linebacker like Josiah Trotter reach slot 85 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Zakee Wheatley in the 99th pick, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121 Rnd4 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in No. 121 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Omar Cooper Jr.
Somehow Omar Cooper Jr. was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 35, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159 Rnd5 Drew Allar
They barely believed it either: Drew Allar still on the board at No. 159. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick213 Rnd6 Isaiah Nwokobia
The board fumbled Isaiah Nwokobia all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet in the 214th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick224 Rnd7 Antonio Kite
They robbed the room for Antonio Kite here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jager Burton
Jager Burton at the 237th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
