jdj029 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Echoles: B-. The Steelers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Will Echoles fell into No. 148. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Taylor proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is not that Bolden is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.
They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Leonard Moore
In No. 18 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Arch Manning
Steal is underselling it; Arch Manning at slot 49 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick77
Rnd3
KJ Bolden
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and tight end to take KJ Bolden, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick80
Rnd3
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
They will replay Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa at Round 3, Pick 16 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick148
Rnd5
Will Echoles
Somehow Will Echoles was still sitting there in the 148th overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190
Rnd6
Cayden Lee
Cayden Lee in pick 190 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick196
Rnd6
King Mack
King Mack is a better player than pick No. 196 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick224
Rnd7
Darius Taylor
A wild overpay on Darius Taylor in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick239
Rnd7
Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah at pick No. 239 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
