Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueA- NeedC- TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Steelers for Spears: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Dashawn Spears tumbling to the Steelers in slot 148 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They are betting Norfleet proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Spending an early pick on wide receiver with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Cam Coleman
A curious use of the Round 1 slot. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a wide receiver in Cam Coleman did not.
Pick44 Rnd2 Leonard Moore
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Leonard Moore while clear needs at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat open.
Pick74 Rnd3 Zabien Brown
A surprising call. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent the 74th overall pick on Zabien Brown, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick75 Rnd3 A.J. Holmes Jr.
Taking A.J. Holmes Jr. in pick No. 75 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Dashawn Spears
Dashawn Spears at the 148th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jordan Marshall
Circle this one: Jordan Marshall at No. 189 is a fall that decides a draft. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick195 Rnd6 Anthony Boswell
Anthony Boswell in Round 6, Pick 16 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick223 Rnd7 Zavier Mincey
Zavier Mincey in pick 223 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick236 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brett Norfleet. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
