A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Braelon Allen in Round 4, Pick 30. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, tight end and other spots still on the board. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Kamren Kinchens in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick38 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in pick No. 38. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
They took Tyler Guyton at par in the 39th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.

Edgerrin Cooper at pick 57 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.

Trey Benson at the 60th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

They did well to land Caelen Carson in slot 68, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Braelon Allen at the 130th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
