FutureC
Nobody dealt better than the Buccaneers this weekend: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jake Slaughter got past him. The Buccaneers do not have to explain a thing at slot 54.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Grimes pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Deontae Lawson
In pick No. 27 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They barely believed it either: Jake Slaughter still on the board at pick 54. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick86
Rnd3
Eugene Wilson III
Eugene Wilson III in Round 3, Pick 22 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Evan Stewart
A clean, defensible pick in the 122nd pick with a little surplus value in Evan Stewart. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jackson Arnold
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jackson Arnold in pick No. 161. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tony Grimes
Tony Grimes at the 200th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
