FutureB-
Larceny in No. 203 lands the Rams a D+, Gordon II and all. The Rams lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Cornelius pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
However the rest shakes out, Gordon II at that price is a win they earned. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at pick No. 31 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at pick 63 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick79
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Elijah Arroyo. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick100
Rnd3
Ajani Cornelius
A reach for Ajani Cornelius in the 100th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
They took Emery Jones Jr. at par in the 126th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick192
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Good price on Cobee Bryant in slot 192, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick203
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at Round 6, Pick 25 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
No edge and no loss on Jack Kiser in No. 204; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
