Draft Grade — Rams
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Rams did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The tape said wait; the Rams did not. Zion Logue went at Round 7, Pick 1, a good 69 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The McCormick steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the 32nd pick they get protection for the quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
They barely believed it either: Terrion Arnold still on the board at pick 52. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick70 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
A quiet steal in the 70th overall pick: Malachi Corley for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick83 Rnd3 Max Melton
A surprising call. With quarterback and edge rusher still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Max Melton, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick120 Rnd4 Marist Liufau
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marist Liufau well ahead of where he belonged. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick133 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Ray Davis at slot 133 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick140 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade at No. 140 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick144 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
A straight-up fair deal on Tykee Smith at pick No. 144, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick145 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
They went early on Dallin Holker in Round 5, Pick 9, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick158 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
By-the-book stuff, Luke McCaffrey at the 158th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick172 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
They left a pile of value on the table to take Justin Rogers this early at the Round 5 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick188 Rnd6 Dillon Johnson
Taking Dillon Johnson in slot 188 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195 Rnd6 Steele Chambers
A tidy little value on Steele Chambers in pick 195, a step better than break-even. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick209 Rnd6 Mason McCormick
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 209th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick221 Rnd7 Zion Logue
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Logue in pick 221, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kenny Logan Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kenny Logan Jr. in the 248th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
