The Rams let Jacobs fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Curtis Jacobs, the 217th pick, roughly 20 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Pick59
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with J.J. McCarthy worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick83
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
They let Kamren Kinchens come to them and pounced at pick 83. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick100
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in slot 100, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick153
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau in pick No. 153 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick154
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
Nothing to complain about; Dylan Laube went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick177
Rnd6
Luke McCaffrey
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luke McCaffrey at the 177th pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick191
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern in No. 191 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick212
Rnd6
Erick All
By-the-book stuff, Erick All at No. 212 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick217
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
The board fumbled Curtis Jacobs all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick218
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
Good price on Josh Proctor in pick 218, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
