FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Slaughter from sliding. Grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Jake Slaughter had no business being available in slot 58, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Reaching for Harvey left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They robbed the room for Jake Slaughter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zakee Wheatley in the 89th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick203
Rnd6
DJ Harvey
The board had cheaper options than DJ Harvey at pick 203, and it noticed. It adds depth where they could use a little.
