Draft Grade — Rams

FutureC
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Rams. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Damon Payne in the Round 7 slot, a good 59 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while running back and edge rusher went begging. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Chambliss steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Pick21
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In pick 21 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Will Lee III
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 61 on Will Lee III with running back and edge rusher unsolved.
Pick129
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trinidad Chambliss at No. 129 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen in the 205th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jaquaize Pettaway
They talked themselves into Jaquaize Pettaway at pick No. 208, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
No edge and no loss on Shamar Easter in Round 7, Pick 16; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick250
Rnd7
Micah Morris
Micah Morris at the 250th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256
Rnd7
Damon Payne
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Damon Payne well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
