FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Rams this weekend: B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Rams took David Ugwoegbu a full 72 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Landing Coleman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In slot 19 they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at No. 54 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick83
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick98
Rnd3
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in the 98th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick153
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 17 with a little surplus value in Tykee Smith. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha in the 154th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick155
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
They paid a round early for Javion Cohen in pick 155, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A big swing on Gabe Hall at pick No. 195, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Elijah Jones
The board had Elijah Jones higher than the 205th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick209
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Proctor at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick213
Rnd6
Trevin Wallace
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in No. 213, miles early. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick217
Rnd6
Daijun Edwards
Daijun Edwards at Round 6, Pick 42 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick254
Rnd7
David Ugwoegbu
David Ugwoegbu at slot 254 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
