Draft Grade — Rams

The phones sank the Rams this weekend: B-.

Call it larceny. Tommi Hill sat on the board until Round 6, Pick 14, and the Rams did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Every board in the league had Oben lower, and that gap is the story. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick90 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick101 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at the 101st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick102 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in pick 102 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127 Rnd4 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick190 Rnd6 Tommi Hill
They will replay Tommi Hill at slot 190 for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick195 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in the 195th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick196 Rnd6 RJ Oben
RJ Oben at the 196th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylen Reed at No. 201 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick202 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. in Round 6, Pick 26 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
