Draft Grade — Rams
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Rams won the night they stopped Jones from sliding. Grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Christian Jones slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Rams did not.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Wingo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In No. 19 they get a bendy edge with upside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at the 52nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick83 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick99 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
A reach for Mekhi Wingo in slot 99; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick154 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 154 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 19 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
Ro Torrence at the 196th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan slid further than he should have, and pick No. 209 is lovely value for the running back. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick213 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Fair-plus on Jaylan Ford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick217 Rnd6 Evan Williams
They did well to land Evan Williams in slot 217, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick254 Rnd7 Darius Muasau
By-the-book stuff, Darius Muasau at the 254th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
