The steal of the weekend belongs to the Rams and Schrader: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Rams were there to profit. Cody Schrader, the No. 172 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 6 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Hartman pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at No. 52, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick83 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson slid further than he should have, and pick 83 is lovely value for the running back. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick100 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
They will replay Malachi Corley at pick No. 100 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick153 Rnd5 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at slot 153 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick154 Rnd5 James Williams
A safety of that caliber at the 154th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177 Rnd6 Cam Hart
The board fumbled Cam Hart all the way to Round 6, Pick 2, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick193 Rnd6 AJ Barner
AJ Barner in the 193rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in No. 212 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick217 Rnd6 Cody Schrader
Circle this one: Cody Schrader at the 217th pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick218 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
They went early on Sam Hartman in slot 218, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232 Rnd7 Marcellas Dial
Steal is underselling it; Marcellas Dial at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
