Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Rams for Hairston: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Rams did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
However the rest shakes out, Hairston at that price is a win they earned. The Griffith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with safety the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In the 18th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick82
Rnd3
Dillon Gabriel
By-the-book stuff, Dillon Gabriel at pick No. 82 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick114
Rnd4
Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb slipping to slot 114 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178
Rnd6
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the 178th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick181
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
The board had cheaper options than Thor Griffith at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
