Draft Grade — Rams
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The Rams let Howard fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Rams watched Will Howard slide 95 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

Martin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

With edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 14th overall pick they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In pick 26 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that.
Pick44 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in the 44th pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick57 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
Somehow Wyatt Milum was still sitting there in No. 57, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick80 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick90 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in slot 90 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
No drama and no debate, Kevin Winston Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 36. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mello Dotson adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher untouched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at pick No. 126 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips in the 192nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick203 Rnd6 Will Howard
They will replay Will Howard at Round 6, Pick 25 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nick Martin
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Martin well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
