Draft Grade — Rams

FutureB-
Nix is the Rams' new face under center. Grade: D. Call it larceny. Blake Fisher sat on the board until slot 160, and the Rams did not need to be asked twice.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Tagovailoa has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They have staked the next five years on Bo Nix, which is the only story that really matters here.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 13 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick17
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In slot 23 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the 45th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick50
Rnd2
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick77
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
Circle this one: Johnny Wilson at pick 77 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick118
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in pick No. 118 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160
Rnd5
Blake Fisher
They robbed the room for Blake Fisher here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173
Rnd5
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in No. 173 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jestin Jacobs
No edge and no loss on Jestin Jacobs in the 191st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia Tagovailoa at the 211th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239
Rnd7
Willie Roberts
Somehow Willie Roberts was still sitting there in the 239th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick240
Rnd7
Erick All
They let Erick All come to them and pounced at slot 240. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick244
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick249
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern in Round 7, Pick 29 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
