Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B- for the Raiders. The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Every board in the league had Hobbs lower, and that gap is the story. It is not that Louis is a bad player; it is that the Raiders had louder needs to answer first. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
Pick36
Rnd2
Colton Hood
Colton Hood slid further than he should have, and slot 36 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
Ja'Kobi Lane
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Kobi Lane at pick No. 67 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at No. 102 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick117
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick134
Rnd4
Kyle Louis
A surprising call. With edge rusher and tight end still to address, they spent the 134th pick on Kyle Louis, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick174
Rnd5
Daevin Hobbs
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Daevin Hobbs well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick180
Rnd6
Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid in pick 180 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick183
Rnd6
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219
Rnd7
PJ Williams
They jumped the gun on PJ Williams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
