Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Raiders got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+.

The tape said wait; the Raiders did not. Malachi Lawrence went at the 78th overall pick, a good 60 picks before the board was ready. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

That Baynes pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Derek Stingley Jr. pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick20 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In the 20th pick they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Pick28 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In pick 28 they get protection for the quarterback, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
No drama and no debate, Elijah Sarratt went about where he belonged in slot 36. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick38 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse in Round 2, Pick 6 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in No. 59 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72 Rnd3 Julian Neal
No edge and no loss on Julian Neal in No. 72; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday at the 75th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick78 Rnd3 Malachi Lawrence
A wild overpay on Malachi Lawrence in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Blake Miller
Blake Miller at pick No. 90 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
By-the-book stuff, Bishop Fitzgerald at Round 4, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick110 Rnd4 Drew Allar
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Allar in pick 110, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick117 Rnd4 Tanner Koziol
A big swing on Tanner Koziol at the 117th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick134 Rnd4 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at slot 134 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174 Rnd5 Taylen Green
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taylen Green in No. 174. It fills a real need, too.
Pick180 Rnd6 Kobe Baynes
They read the board right and Kobe Baynes was the payoff at slot 180. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick183 Rnd6 De'Zhaun Stribling
They reached a country mile for De'Zhaun Stribling at the 183rd pick, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219 Rnd7 Fernando Carmona
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Fernando Carmona. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
