You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jets did exactly that with Roman Hemby in pick 242.

So much rides on Fernando Mendoza that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The Styles pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher still on the board.

Wallace III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
