Draft Grade — Raiders

The Raiders found their guy under center in Mendoza: B-. The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Fernando Mendoza, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The Moore reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 5 they get a long-term answer under center, even if it was a touch early.
Pick36
Rnd2
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at Round 2, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in slot 67 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick105
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. in No. 105 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick112
Rnd4
Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at the 134th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
No edge and no loss on Duce Robinson in the 173rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick183
Rnd6
Darius Taylor
Nothing to complain about; Darius Taylor went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick185
Rnd6
Monroe Mills
A clean, defensible pick in No. 185 with a little surplus value in Monroe Mills. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson at the 220th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
