Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD+
The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a D- to match.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Raiders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Put together, it is a D-.

So much rides on Bo Nix that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Davis at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In pick No. 13 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick25 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick30 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In pick 30 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roman Wilson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick112 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop slipping to No. 112 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in the 117th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
They will replay Cedric Gray at the 148th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick208 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
Taking Isaiah Davis in No. 208 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick219 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
No drama and no debate, Keith Randolph Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 219. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jared Wiley
A quiet steal in Round 7, Pick 3: Jared Wiley for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick229 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
They read the board right and Garret Greenfield was the payoff at slot 229. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
