Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

ValueB-

TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B-, for the Raiders. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Davis pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will need Kilgore to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In slot 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
CJ Allen
No drama and no debate, CJ Allen went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick67
Rnd3
Isaiah World
They liked Isaiah World enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 67. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
A reach on Jalon Kilgore in the 102nd overall pick; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaeden Roberts. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick135
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at Round 4, Pick 35 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176
Rnd5
Red Murdock
Red Murdock in the 176th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick181
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss at No. 181 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick184
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at pick 184 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick219
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh at pick No. 219 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
