FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Davis pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Raiders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick47
Rnd2
CJ Allen
CJ Allen in Round 2, Pick 15 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick67
Rnd3
Gennings Dunker
Gennings Dunker slipping to the 67th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jake Golday in pick No. 78. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick117
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Daylen Everette in the 117th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Circle this one: Tacario Davis at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
They will replay Ted Hurst at slot 174 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick180
Rnd6
Bryce Boettcher
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bryce Boettcher at No. 180 is the proof. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick183
Rnd6
Febechi Nwaiwu
Nice patience on Febechi Nwaiwu, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219
Rnd7
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jimmy Rolder
Jimmy Rolder at pick No. 230 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
