Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Mendoza is the plan now, and the Raiders grade out a B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They are betting Chestnut proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Slaughter steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 1 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick36 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Colton Hood at Round 2, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at pick 67. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
They paid sticker price for Zachariah Branch in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick117 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at the 117th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134 Rnd4 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 134. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174 Rnd5 Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs in slot 174 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick180 Rnd6 Trebor Pena
They liked Trebor Pena enough to skip the value, taking him in the 180th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick183 Rnd6 Kalil Alexander
Kalil Alexander at slot 183 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd7 Duce Chestnut
Duce Chestnut at the 219th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
