Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-

A solid, sensible weekend for the Raiders: B-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Raiders took Barion Brown at pick No. 219, roughly 27 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The Beck pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
No drama and no debate, Francis Mauigoa went about where he belonged in the 4th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
They paid sticker price for Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 3, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66 Rnd3 Cayden Green
Cayden Green in the 66th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104 Rnd4 Omar Cooper Jr.
Value with a capital V on Omar Cooper Jr. in pick 104, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
They jumped the gun on Tacario Davis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134 Rnd4 Carson Beck
Circle this one: Carson Beck at slot 134 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez slid further than he should have, and pick 173 is lovely value for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick181 Rnd6 Trinidad Chambliss
By-the-book stuff, Trinidad Chambliss at Round 6, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Taylen Green
No edge and no loss on Taylen Green in No. 185; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick219 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Barion Brown at the 219th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
