Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Raiders and Nelson: B-.

Somebody in No. 218 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Jack Nelson, the No. 169 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Reaching for Bryant left real value on the table behind him. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
A clean, defensible pick in Round 1, Pick 6 with a little surplus value in Ashton Jeanty. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
They paid sticker price for Jaxson Dart in pick No. 37, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Value with a capital V on Zy Alexander in No. 68, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick73 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Demetrius Knight Jr. at the 73rd pick is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick107 Rnd4 Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
A wild overpay on Cobee Bryant in the 144th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick182 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick 182 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick214 Rnd6 Ricky White III
Ricky White III slipping to slot 214 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick218 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at pick No. 218 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
They liked Ty Hamilton enough to skip the value, taking him in the 224th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
