FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Raiders: B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Drew Allar a full 43 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Klare.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get the heartbeat of the defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick16
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In pick 16 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36
Rnd2
Gennings Dunker
Gennings Dunker in No. 36 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67
Rnd3
Max Klare
They let Max Klare come to them and pounced at slot 67. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at the 102nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
They did well to land Bishop Fitzgerald in pick No. 117, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick134
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick No. 134 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
