Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Raiders found their guy under center in Sanders: B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Shedeur Sanders is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.

Lawson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In the 4th pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick8 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In No. 8 they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
Pick65 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at pick 65 is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick72 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Dylan Fairchild for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They jumped the gun on Jake Majors, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick103 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
A curious use of pick No. 103. Edge rusher, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Malachi Moore did not.
Pick117 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Somehow Tez Johnson was still sitting there in the 117th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in slot 138 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
