The Raiders bled value on every deal, hence the D. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Raiders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If McLaughlin pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Golden steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
