Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-

Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B- for the Raiders.

The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ramsey. Every board in the league had Payne lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

The Raiders indulged a want in Rodriguez while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza in pick 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick36 Rnd2 CJ Allen
A tidy little value on CJ Allen in pick No. 36, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
A surprising call. With edge rusher, cornerback and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 3 on Jacob Rodriguez, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick102 Rnd4 Kamari Ramsey
They robbed the room for Kamari Ramsey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in the 117th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at the 134th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175 Rnd5 VJ Payne
A big swing on VJ Payne at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick185 Rnd6 Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson in slot 185 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick208 Rnd6 Aaron Graves
They paid sticker price for Aaron Graves in slot 208, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219 Rnd7 Kaelon Black
No edge and no loss on Kaelon Black in pick No. 219; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
