Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Raiders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

Whoever sat across the table from the Raiders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Hall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Washington.

The veteran additions, Pete Werner chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy in Round 2, Pick 5 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in pick 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick45 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at No. 45 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick50 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick77 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul is a better player than the 77th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaac Guerendo. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick147 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
A conviction pick on Mason McCormick at the 147th overall pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick178 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 178 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick181 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
A big swing on Joe Milton III at the 181st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick183 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at the 183rd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick220 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Frank Gore Jr. at No. 220, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick221 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in pick 221 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick225 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield at slot 225 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227 Rnd7 Keaton Bills
No drama and no debate, Keaton Bills went about where he belonged in pick No. 227. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
