Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Princewill Umanmielen at the Round 6 slot. The Raiders jumped the board by 83 and dared it to prove them wrong. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Getting Green where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Kilgore pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback and tight end.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center, even if it was a touch early.
Pick35 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Christen Miller at No. 35 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ian Strong
They took Ian Strong at par in the 73rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
They liked Chase Bisontis enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 111. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick118 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
A quiet steal in the 118th overall pick: Earl Little Jr. for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 34 on Jalon Kilgore with cornerback and tight end unsolved.
Pick136 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
A tidy bit of business in pick 136, where Jaishawn Barham graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at the 161st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick173 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They paid a round early for DJ Campbell in No. 173, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181 Rnd6 Duce Robinson
A tidy little value on Duce Robinson in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick185 Rnd6 Princewill Umanmielen
A big swing on Princewill Umanmielen at pick No. 185, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick219 Rnd7 Mark Fletcher Jr.
Mark Fletcher Jr. at the 219th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Taylen Green
They will replay Taylen Green at slot 222 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
