Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureD-
The phones sank the Raiders this weekend: F. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Raiders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Ramsey reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. However the rest shakes out, Rivers at that price is a win they earned.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In No. 1 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Christen Miller at the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick35
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
They paid a round early for Kamari Ramsey in slot 35, more than the board wanted. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick67
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
No drama and no debate, A'Mauri Washington went about where he belonged in pick No. 67. The roster fit checks out.
Pick102
Rnd4
Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks at pick 102 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 11 is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick155
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at the 155th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jaden Greathouse
A quiet steal in the 173rd overall pick: Jaden Greathouse for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
Monroe Mills
By-the-book stuff, Monroe Mills at the 183rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick187
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
No edge and no loss on Earnest Greene III in Round 6, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick217
Rnd7
Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena at pick No. 217 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
