A costly weekend of dealing drags the Raiders to a D.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent pick No. 153 on Braylan Shelby, a name the board had a full 64 spots lower.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. It is not that Styles is a bad player; it is that the Raiders had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Getting Styles where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
