Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B.

There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the Round 1 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson is a better player than the 58th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Jack Bech
A tidy bit of business in pick 79, where Jack Bech graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Nothing to complain about; Donovan Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Fair-plus on Seth McLaughlin, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
