Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The Raiders let Walker fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Jalon Walker slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at the Round 2 slot. Highway robbery.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

The dealing was even money, start to finish.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 12th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at No. 37 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at slot 44 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick68 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at pick No. 68 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Will Howard
Will Howard at pick 108 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
They did well to land Ajani Cornelius in the 180th pick, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick213 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
They read the board right and Jay Higgins was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 37. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick215 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Value with a capital V on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in slot 215, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick222 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid is a better player than the 222nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
